Ian Dreilinger teaches English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Valencia College, where he helps English language learners find their voice and confidence in academic settings. With over a decade in the classroom, Ian's approach blends technology with student-centered teaching to create inclusive spaces where diverse learners can thrive.
A double UCF Knight, Ian earned both his BA in Modern Languages and MA in TESOL from the University of Central Florida, where his passion for innovative education took root. Today, he designs courses that work across all formats—whether students are learning online, in person, or in hybrid environments.
Beyond teaching, Ian's tech-forward mindset drives both his professional and personal pursuits. At Valencia, he chairs the AI in Education committee and serves on Faculty Senate, advocating for ethical tech use that enhances rather than replaces human connection in learning. After hours, he's constantly building digital solutions—from websites to interactive storytelling platforms to specialized micro-tools—always with an eye toward solving practical problems or creating unique experiences.
As a board member and webmaster for Central Florida TESOL, Ian connects TESOL professionals throughout the region, building community among fellow educators.
When he's not coding or in the classroom, Ian cherishes time with his wife and three young kids, who inspire many of his creative projects. You might also find him cooking something spicy, making or discovering new music, buried in a good book, or squeezing in a gaming session after the kids are asleep—all experiences that help him connect authentically with students from diverse backgrounds.
